Well it is interesting, however do you have examples of this on a working website?  It is very gimicky and i feel if it is used inappropriately could detract from a websites presentation.  also having to have a stop and start button also uses up valuable web space.  Sorry I am not really impressed with this effect.  Maybe for a personal homepage, but I dont think it would have much appeal on a professional business website.

If it did then why dont major websites use this animated effect to promote a product or service.

Maybe if the mouse ran over it and the animation was a signal for an event to happen, eg open a new page or took the individual to a new section of the page.  ie as the animation moved the individual down to a relevant section of content and then 'Stopped' then I would be more than happy to consider using such a technique.

Some food for thought.
