i am a novice to xml and has been confused with the xml related jargon for a long time. looked up many sites which only ended up confusing me more than i was before. this one site is so clearly and logically presented that now i can confidentlt take on the complexities of xml.  thanks a bunch !!!

After going through all the pages in this admittedly dated article, the user comes to the end to examine the page. If they are using any XML/XSL/CSS capable browser other than Internet Explorer, they get nothing more than all the words of the page, with no layout whatsoever. That is, the other browsers it as an XML file with NO style sheet should be displayed (as opposed to how IE displays it).

This is not the author's fault. In fact, it demonstrates quite clearly the current mess in which XML authors find themselves.

The interoperability of XML lags so very far behind HTML that it is currently useless for client-side applications. It appears that the first browser to implement the new language did so in a very 'unique' manner, and that we will now need to defer the promise of XML for years to come. The question that we must now address is whether XML can recover from getting off on the very wrong foot.
