I seem to recall a post here from Scott saying that a power surge had taken out his email server. (Remember late last year when SE was out of action for a few days?) He said he'd get it back going as soon as he could but it wasn't a high priority.

Thanks, people. I'd forgotten "should take 4-6 weeks" to restore email service.

As a little follow-up.
I just purchased a new server for the site and mail server. I am currently exploring moving the site over to Asp.net and am going to explore using some of the community built message board back-ends as a starting point. I expect this to take a few weeks (going to configure the server this weekend).
I am going to try and get the newsletter back up and running within the next week or so, followed by migrating the current database to the new server (leaving the site as-is), followed by the big migration of the entire site to Asp.net. (depending on complexity - I may migrate the database before getting the newsletter back online).

That sounds like good news in my ears. Changes seems necessary, I was nearly under the impression that SE is going to a slow (and undeserved) end.
